Emmanuel Weiss is forty-three years old, professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine in Paris, France.
He is chair of the anesthesiology and perioperative care medicine department of Beaujon Hospital.
He is interested in clinical research on patients with severe digestive diseases, especially endstage liver disease, and perioperative care during liver transplantation and major digestive surgery.
He heads a research team at the Center for Research on Inflammation (Inserm) in Paris to investigate how to restore a proper regulation of inflammation in patients with cirrhosis.
He is a member of the council of the Liver Intensive Care Group of Europe and performed a one-year visiting professorship at the European Foundation fro the study of Chronic Liver Failure (EF-CLIF). He is also vice chair of the scientific committee of the French society of anesthesia and critical care (SFAR), and leads the French special interest group on anesthesiology and critical care of the liver.
