Tatjana Šimurina, MD, PhD is a board certificated in anesthesiology, resuscitation, emergency medicine, and intensive care medicine. She has many years of professional experience in the field of general and regional anesthesia and perioperative medicine. Tatjana graduated from the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb, Croatia, and completed Anesthesiology and Reanimation, and Critical Care residency at Zagreb University, Croatia. She has a broad professional experience in anesthesiology, pain management, and intensive medicine and is a member of several national and international anesthesiology societies.

Dr. Šimurina has great experience in organizing national and international scientific meetings and lecturing at national and international conferences in which she participated as a faculty member, chairman, and invited speaker (e.g. WCA 2016, 2024, virtual WCA 2021 and EA 2019, 2023, Virtual Congress EA 2020, 2021). She has been involved with ESAIC and WFSA as a part of the ambulatory anesthesia committee. She has served as a National (Croatia) ESAIC Council representative since 2022.

As a Professor of Anesthesiology at Faculty of Medicine, University of Osijek and Department of Health Studies, University of Zadar, Croatia successfully combining clinical experience and scientific research she is truly dedicated to teaching both on an undergraduate and postgraduate level with her lectures always being well accepted and appreciated by the students. So far she has published 38 original and clinical peer-reviewed articles, H- index 10 (Scopus database). Dr Šimurina is also a PI and coordinator of several clinical studies, a reviewer in prominent medical journals, an editor and author of anesthesia textbooks, and past president of Ethics Committee of General Hospital Zadar. Her professional and research interests include postoperative nausea and vomiting, acute pain, obstructive sleep apnea, nitrous oxide, postoperative recovery, predictive models in biomedicine and health.
