Ecaterina Scarlatescu MD PhD MSc Dr. Ecaterina Scarlatescu is an Assistant Professor at the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest and a Consultant in the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care III at Fundeni Clinical Institute, Dr. Scarlatescu specializes in complex clinical scenarios including visceral and thoracic surgery, liver transplantation, and comprehensive intensive care for both adult and pediatric patients. She completed her PhD on coagulation disturbances in sepsis in 2018 and earned a Master of Science from Danube-University Krems, Austria, in 2022. Dr. Scarlatescu's research is focused on hemostasis and coagulation disorders, with specialized interests in sepsis-associated coagulopathy, disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), and bleeding management in major oncological surgery, liver surgery, and liver transplantation. She is currently a member of the DIC Subcommittee of the ISTH, Associate Editor for BMC Anesthesiology and Section Editor for Annals of Medicine, and an active contributor to international guidelines, notably the ESAIC Perioperative Severe Bleeding Guidelines. She is currently the Chair of Forum 4 (Therapies) of the European Society of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC), member of The Liver Intensive Care Group of Europe (LICAGE) Board, the ILTS Anesthesia & Critical Care Committee, the ISTH Guidelines and Guidance Committee and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.
