Dr. Eva Rivas is a specialist in Anesthesiology and Critical Care (2005), trained at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona (HCB), where she currently works full-time. Since 2022, she has served as Clinical Head of the Digestive Diseases Section within the Department of Anesthesiology, and she is an accredited researcher (R3a) at the August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS), Area 2, Group 6.04. Dr. Rivas completed her doctoral thesis on the impact of bariatric surgery on respiratory function, defended at the University of Barcelona in 2016. She subsequently pursued postdoctoral training for three years at the Outcomes Research Department of the Cleveland Clinic, under the supervision of Prof. Daniel Sessler and Dr. Turan. This period provided her with advanced expertise in managing large clinical datasets to identify determinants of postoperative outcomes. At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Rivas returned to Spain, resuming her clinical practice and research within the IDIBAPS group led by Dr. Martínez Pallí, continuing the line of research on “Postoperative complications after non-cardiac” Her trajectory and expertise in surgical outcomes measurement, combined with her advanced training in large-scale data analysis, represent a significant contribution to this field, with a particular focus on preventive strategies to reduce complications and enhance surgical recovery. Over the last four years, Dr Rivas has developed competitive research projects, supervised Doctoral projects, and publised aroung 50 articles.
