Doris is a Professor in Medical Education and Simulation at the University of Copenhagen and leader of research at the Copenhagen Academy for Medical Education and Simulation (CAMES), Capital Region of Denmark. Doris is an anaesthesiologist currently focusing upon developing healthcare education and simulation-based training to improve patient safety. Her publication list includes papers about anaesthesia, patient safety, medical education, and simulation.

Doris is a member of the National Council for Education of Doctors in Denmark and is involved in the revision of specialist training programs in Denmark. Doris is Chair of the Simulation Committee in the European Society for Anaesthesiology and Chair of a working group about Continuous Professional Development in the Scandinavian Society for Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine.
