COHEN Yitzhak
Dr. Yitzhak Cohen was born in Jerusalem, Israel, in 1960. Dr. Cohen studied medicine at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem graduating in 1989. His residency was at the Department of Anesthesiology, Hadassah Medical Center, Jerusalem, between 1990 and 1995. He is a senior anesthesiologist since 1995. Since then he worked as a senior anesthesiologist in several major Israeli hospitals, including Hadassah Medical Center, Jerusalem, Kaplan Medical Center, Rehovot, and Tel-Aviv Sourasky Medical Center. Since 2009 he has been the Manager of the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), at Sheba Medical Center, Tel-Hashomer, Israel. Dr. Cohen is a Diplomate in Anesthesia and Intensive Care by the European Academy of Anesthesia (DEAA) (2003), and holds a Master’s degree in Health Administration from the Tel Aviv University's Faculty of Management – The Leon Recanati Graduate School of Business Administration (2005). Until recently Dr. Cohen was a flight physician at the Israeli Air Force Search and Rescue unit. He finished his military service at the rank of Major. He is deeply involved in anesthesia education of anesthesia residents and fellows and of medical and nursing students. He participated in several anesthesia education missions to Turkmenistan and China. He participates as an examiner for the Israeli Boards of Anesthesiology and the European Society of Anesthesia Diploma in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care. His major Fields of interest are nursing workload in the PACU, the use of the PACU as a short-term intensive care unit for surgical patients, difficult airway management and Prehospital and intra-hospital resuscitation.
