Prof. Barak Cohen graduated from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem's Medical School in 2003 and served as a Medical Officer in the IDF until 2015. He concurrently completed his residency in the Division of Anaesthesia, Intensive Care, and Pain Medicine at the Tel Aviv Medical Center.

During his service and residency, Dr. Cohen was involved in numerous academic and scientific activities. He completed a 3-year clinical research fellowship in the Cleveland Clinic's Outcome Research Department, serving as the department’s chief research fellow.

He currently serves as the Head of the Research Section and the Vice-Chair of the Division of Anaesthesia, Intensive Care, and Pain Medicine at the Tel Aviv Medical Center, combining clinical work, leadership roles, and responsibility for clinical research in the largest anaesthesia department in Israel.

Prof. Cohen is currently the president of the Israeli Society of Anesthesiologists. He also serves as the head of Forum 5 (Devices and Technology) of the Scientific Committee of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC). His main areas of interest include perioperative outcomes of geriatric patients, the effects of intraoperative hyperoxia, and continuous postoperative monitoring.
