Dr. Matteo Brivio graduated in Medicine from the University of Milan in 2004, and completed his residency in Anesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine in 2008 at the University of Parma.
During his training, he attended the UPMC in Pittsburgh, PA (USA), and the University of Vienna at AKH Hospital, Vienna, Austria.
He works as a consultant in a 16-bed cardiac and general ICU at Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo, Italy.
This tertiary hospital has 1,000 beds and serves a county of 1,000,000 people in Lombardy, Northern Italy. It is one of the teaching hospitals of the University of Milan, hosting the School of Medicine and Surgery, and offers an English-language master’s degree program in partnership with the University of Surrey (UK).
The main activities of the ICU range from care for cardiac and general surgical patients to management of acute cardiac failure and acute respiratory failure, providing all kinds of extracorporeal multi-organ support, including both veno-arterial and veno-venous ECMO. He is a member of the Italian Anesthesia and Intensive Care Society (SIAARTI) and participates in cardiovascular and renal research activities in his department.
