MONTRAVERS Philippe
Dr. Philippe Montravers is Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Surgical Intensive Care Unit at the Bichat-Claude Bernard University Hospital (University de Paris) in Paris, France. He completed his training in Intensive Care and Anaesthesiology before achieving a Ph.D. in Antimicrobial Therapy and Immunology at the University Paris VII and the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) in Paris. Dr. Montravers is a member of the French Society of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, and the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine. He is the author of more than 380 publications and reviews, as well as chapters of books, in the field of anaesthesiology, critical care medicine and infectious disease. His current areas of research include the epidemiology of nosocomial and post-operative infections, antibiotic and antifungal therapies. He was recently in charge of the revision of the French Consensus for the management of intra-abdominal infections. He was also involved as an expert in the revision of the WSES Guidelines for intra-abdominal infections, the WSES Guidelines for skin and soft tissue infections, the French Expert Conference on hospital-acquired and ventilator-associated pneumonia, the French Expert Conference on acute pancreatitis and the French Guidelines for the management of Covid-19, and French guidelines for antibiotic perioperative prophylaxis.
