MANICA Virgil-Șerban
Graduated from "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, 1981. Emigrated to the US in 1984, where I entered an Anaesthesia Residency at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, followed by an Obstetric Anaesthesia Fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston. Started as Anaesthesia Attending at Tufts Medical Center in 1992, eventually becoming Director of the Obstetric Anaesthesia Division.I had an academic position as Associate Professor of Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, then Associate Professor Emeritus of Anaesthesiology from Tufts University School of Medicine, retiring in June 2021. Moved back to Romania in July 2021, now working as Chief Quality Officer in the Department of Quality Management at "Marie Sklodowska Curie" Clinical Emergency Pediatric Hospital in Bucharest. Since 2006, I participated in an international outreach program with Kybele, a not-for-profit organization, promoting the use of regional anaesthesia and analgesia for pregnant patients worldwide. I joined projects in the Republic of Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Moldova, China and Romania. Since 2007, I lectured as an invited speaker at SRATI congresses in Sinaia, the Anaesthesia Guide and Protocol Conference in Timișoara, as well as the Romanian Society of OB/GYN Congress in Iași.
